THE PLIGHT OF THE BURMESE PEOPLE
As if the Burmese people hadn't enough to contend with by being brutally ruled by a Junta of military criminals, they now have to contend with one of the worst natural disasters ever to occur in the region. With a bit of luck this will spell the end of the general's rule as it appears that they don't have the resources to deal with the disaster. Hopefully, the world's aid agencies will get in there as quickly as possibe and do what they can to alleviate the suffering on the ground.

My DVD copy of that St. John's Passion has finally arrived. Excellent!

Indeed, it was very fortuitous to find this video. It helped me to expand my appreciation and understanding of how to interpret Bach arias.

I didn't like these kind of voices before, especially with baroque, but as I've grown older and worked on my own technique I've started to appreciate also bigger voices with more "body" in the sound. Moser's technique is obviously very good, and his singing is beautiful and musical.

I have another recording of this aria which I appreciate a lot. When I listened to this video the first time, I thought there was something wrong with the singing. The tenor sounded a little too "romantic" to me. However, there was something to the singing that forced me to listen to it again and again instead of putting aside... And now I really like this version as well. The tenor has a very beautiful voice. Add this to Harnoncourt's conduction, which I really appreciate.

I'm learning the tenor arias from both passions at the moment. They're so hard! Thomas Moser sings this aira amazingly - great technique.
