the reason fag relates to homosexuality is the sticks tied with twine is what they used to start the fires when they used to burn homosexuals at the stake. That's why it is still a sensitive term for many. If your using fag as an insult it is most definitely offensive. Your inferring that there is something negative about being gay, which is just not cool.
