THE PLIGHT OF THE BURMESE PEOPLE
As if the Burmese people hadn't enough to contend with by being brutally ruled by a Junta of military criminals, they now have to contend with one of the worst natural disasters ever to occur in the region. With a bit of luck this will spell the end of the general's rule as it appears that they don't have the resources to deal with the disaster. Hopefully, the world's aid agencies will get in there as quickly as possibe and do what they can to alleviate the suffering on the ground.

Today we are all impressed by big numbers of people (starving, dying in natural catastrophes, illnesses..) but OUR very OWN world hasnt much changed since the beginnings of times! our circles of friends, acquaintances..We all know a few people. But the world population has exponentially increased, never forget this!

absolute numbers of people compared in different times DOES NOT give any INFORMATION..Need relativity, percentages. What percentage of the world is starving today? died in WW2? ...etc.

However I didn't use your criteria in coming to my conclusion, i used my own. I based it not upon available resources, but on the specific need of the cultural group in which this technique is being applied (american students). They lack motivation because they lack perspective, relevancy, and they lack a strong link between academia and the real world (other than the possibility of a degree getting them a job). These 3 thing each student need learn, This technique teaches those three things.

You're exactly right. Considering that you said "Education techniques in general need to be customized according to available resources and technologies around the world" and this specific technique would be excellent for teaching students in the United States considering the resources and technologies available, I don't see how it's culturally biased for me to say that.

Rather culturally biased to think this should only be taught in the states. Education techniques in general need to be customized according to available resources and technologies around the world.

I would also like to know the game system and rule-set. As a teacher, I'd like to know how to do this in my classroom.
