THE PLIGHT OF THE BURMESE PEOPLE
As if the Burmese people hadn't enough to contend with by being brutally ruled by a Junta of military criminals, they now have to contend with one of the worst natural disasters ever to occur in the region. With a bit of luck this will spell the end of the general's rule as it appears that they don't have the resources to deal with the disaster. Hopefully, the world's aid agencies will get in there as quickly as possibe and do what they can to alleviate the suffering on the ground.

2008.05.09By Jonathan Miller:The UN appeals to Burma's military junta to allow aid and aid workers into the country in the wake of cyclone Nargis.Planes grounded, disaster teams turned back, supplies impounded. But as the United Nations appealed for more than £50m in emergency aid for Burma, the UN urged the military junta to let foreign aid workers in "without hindrance".A US military aircraft filled with supplies has now been approved to land on Monday. And the World Food Programme is resuming flights to Burma tomorrow.The Burmese authorities insist they want to distribute aid themselves. But so far barely a trickle has reached those in desperate need.

The last time i saw corps flaoting around like that was during Khmer Rouge time,and the time when i fled to the refugees camp along the thai cambodian border,i saw dead corpse burn like barbecue along the way.

Can some one help me understood why not just Burma but other country to when it comes to received aid from other countries there always a block or slow it down not accepting. Is it because of the country is so proud and kind of like; hey, I don't need your help, I'm strong and can get back on my feet in no time so take your aid away? Is it a political reason?

u kidding me? the man has landed on moon and u argue that they aid is blocked by Burma junta??they can through an atomic bomb from plain and now they can not through aid down from planes and helicopters..that is just bellitlement of human mind..
