THE PLIGHT OF THE BURMESE PEOPLE
As if the Burmese people hadn't enough to contend with by being brutally ruled by a Junta of military criminals, they now have to contend with one of the worst natural disasters ever to occur in the region. With a bit of luck this will spell the end of the general's rule as it appears that they don't have the resources to deal with the disaster. Hopefully, the world's aid agencies will get in there as quickly as possibe and do what they can to alleviate the suffering on the ground.

Well instead of insulting the people in the band...I know Uri, he's killin! His own compositions and writing are very interesting too.

I have been a Dave Douglas fan for 15+ years...caught him live only 4 times though. He is in a class all by himself...not as a player as a composer and band leader incredible. thanks for posting!!

anyone who knows jazz knows that dave douglas is neither a "tribute" to or "antagonist" of anyone.

i agree. Those realbook guys aren't even cute...i had read an article that depicted Dave as an antagonist to Wynton. i heard this and thought, what so radical about this? IDK, sounds like the difference between the republicans and democrats!

You gotta move the art somewhere lest we all become Wynton clones (not a bad goal, but maybe people want to say something for themself rather than spitting out the "right answers" for test day all the time. I think these guys are saying something different, but that is no reason to consider them hacks or unfamiliar with tradition. You're deaf if you think these guys don't understand tradition.
