Yea, thats a really small one. The new england snappers Ive caught up to 50-80lbs, that is an alligator snapper with record sizes over 150lbs!

Dont fuck with snapping turtles! This guy is crazy...that is a very small snapping turtle...adult snapping turtles can weigh up to 100lbs.

Don't grab them by the tail because you can damage them internally if you yank hard or if they swing around. I'm doing research on snapping and painted turtles and my professor picks up the snappers by the back edge of their shells. You turn your hands palm up, slip your fingers in above the legs, and hang on tight. It's safer for you and the turtle cuz it give you a better grip then if you hold their tails.Nice video though, you got some good shots in. He looked really cute standin up ^__^

Snapping turtles are amazing creators. you should check out the documentary i made. i followed a man who catches them for a living!

i used to buy green turtles in mexico for 2 dollars.they were no longer than 3 inches, awesome.
