Took the words out of my mouth. Also a lecturer should never say 'I' or 'I think'. Ones opinions dont count.

I agree that the foundations of Science and Religion are the same, in the sense that we believe it to be true but how is there not a 'split'? The "Galileo affair" for example, science proved in a reality religion was mistaken. When religious belief might empower one, scientific belief empowers all. All religions state they have equal claim on what god says, how can they all be right, can they all be wrong, what if your belief isn't the correct one? Science allows for adjustment when proven wrong

Magical realism, where the illogical/irrational happen in a logical/rational setting? Isn't that more of a literary genre, but I'll make it into a real-world scenario. That's more a psychological human flaw, where we can't believe our sensory information. When this happens scientists try to learn and experiment more and understand our mental biases of why it seems illogical. That's when fundamental scientific breakthroughs happens, when people do what was thought of to be 'impossible'.

Dear Internet Scholar: The very premises of your response betray your own biases. There are ways to think beyond "rationally" such as magical realism for one. Your TV News broadcasts are a very meticulously defined genre of "Realism" for another. Also, you assert a dichotomy or split between your imagined "Science" and "Religion" which truly does not exist, even in the cases of Galileo, Descartes, Pascal and many other Scientists of Yesterday and Today. Finally, religious belief empowers one.

"These people cannot think"?!Scientists and philosophers are the ones who think. Thinking rationally upon their senses, experiments, and ideas. They challenge answers and explore questions, they are smart enough to think for themselves.Religious people are the ones who believe. Belief in what is non-existent to what we see in nature and what can't really be proven. They have blind faith and hold some truth to texts which claim to be 'the word of god'. They don't even want proof to believe.

State sponsored philosophers are always trying to disprove God with their systems and ideologies. This has happened throughout history, and this latest modernism suffers the same overreaching conceit which defined all those court jesters that preceded it. These people cannot think - attributing computers to their numerology and metamath is ridiculous. The same problem happens when we turn our politics over to corporations. Foolishness. Get with God, and read a good book now and again.
