to be honest though i dont know why people are always comparing rugby and american football. its stupid. they're two completely different sports. its like comparing golf to tennis.

but then you also have to realize that theres a big difference in the style of gameplay between rugby and american football. american football is more explosive whereas rugby is more endurance based. linebackers do what theyre meant to do for only about 3 seconds. then they take a break. whereas if they did the same thing in rugby, they would have to do it for about 80 minutes non-stop. something which is impossible.

well i disagree with you friendlinebackers are running backs who get to tackle that is what they are you haveto be really fast to be a linebacker .als think about this they wear 40 pound pads and run up and down the field imagine they could run with out pads wit out the weight or constriction they would be not only 3 times faster but also do way more damage in a forward position

trust me man.. these guys aren't small. the average back in rugby is 6ft 1. the average forward is 6ft 4. the average lock is 6ft 7. most players range from around 220 - 270 pounds. as for how well a linebacker would do... probably not to well. it involves much more gameplay and constant running which linebackers wouldnt be suited for. then again, there would also be many nfl players who would do very well in rugby.

i'm an american new to the sport. I still dont even know how the shit works. but how would an NFL linebacker or even good college linebacker (from American Football) do in this sport? Seems like all the guys on the youtube clips are small. Not being a smartass im just wondering

it's only dangerous if you don't go in 100%. if you play with it in the back of the mind that you'll get hurt, then you'll get seriously hurt. if you go in full pelt, you'll be fine - it's no more dangerous than association football

my arse american gayball is better...as it was once saidrugby:- no pads, no helmets JUST BALLSactually, i don't mind american football too much, i just don't like ignorant comments about other sports

I suppose if you're too much of a pansy to bang into people without pads, and you're too fat to play anything for more than 5-6 seconds at a time without standing around for 30-40 seconds, it would be...
