Poetry is meant to be spoken.But it can be sung just as it can be written down so you can read it.He is a poet and a musician. And great at both. The difference between Cat Stevens and what you think a poet is is that your idea of a poet isn't musical. Don't be so pedantic.

not to disagree with you (its so true, both literally and as you meant it), but yes, he is a poet. a song is just a poem with music. but it's funny that no-one (myself included) would actually read the lyrics alone, cos ppl just don't do that anymore. and so the word "poet" like you said it has a different meaning. its just odd

I guess I just expect too much from this generation, but Cat has never been an evil man! His entire story is peace and love. Just because he is a Muslim does not change this.
