The original commercial for the 1970 GTO Humbler with VOE. Now available as a model car. There is allot of talk of this one lately so thought I'd add the video to share with everyone.

Man, if only the 04-06 GTO has sounded like that, AND actually looked like a GTO.

i recall a magazine said that a 70 model judge ran like a 13.1 on the quarter, but who knows

Not generally, no. The fastest GTOs ran mid-13s (13.4-13.5 range), whereas properly equipped Hemi E-bodies ran as fast as 13.10.Once thing about the Hemi is that they varied wildly in their state of tune, even off the factory line. Chrysler equipped them with carbs that ran too rich and timing that was severely retarded. Many dealers fixed these problems (which robbed the cars of as much as 100 horsepower) once they took delivery of the cars.

The Prob "what I heard" with Street Hemis was the plugs, they falowed out and boged the engine, with the GTO quite quick off the line it was a quick race. All BOPs could out run them, however the hemi guy with hot plugs was one to worrie about. So says my engine builder and Hemi man from 60s!

Yep, Stage 1 Buicks were know to kill Hemis too.Street Hemis were slugs, the 440 6-packs would out run them.
Exide100 (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
was the Hemi on the back of a tow truck? as once again had failed to start :). A top spec goat would run any production Hemi car in to the dust.
RandallFlaggNY (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
But what happens when the 426 Hemi shows up?
duke2080 (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
(last post) The guy wouldn't. Rich backed his Camaro out of the spot, backed it up to the end of the parking lot, and smoked his tires the length of the lot, giving the finger out the window the whole way.
