WOW I'd forgotten about this song, I used to sing it when I was based overseas in Navy. Home for good now, & can't believe I could've forgotten it. Fab.

Happy St Andrews day to all Scots at home and those in exile. 2009 is homecoming year. See you all back home even if it's just for a wee while.xxx

Spent my youth pickin berries during the summers in Blairgowrie. Hence the name. Happier and simpler days

I completely agree. I'm a Blairgowrie exile myself down here in Glasvegas. What a difference that 80 odd miles makes.

Superb song by Dougie Maclean. Happy St Andrew's Day from a proud Scot. "Wha's Like us? Gie few an' their a' died!"

Makes you miss the real Scotland and the real people. I long to move more north from the central belt where I stay. Nicer people and a better way of life. Perhaps when I retire?

Absolutely true. I can't remember the name of the pub but I've seen him play there a few times.

I moved away from Scotland almost 10 years ago & live in OZ. But I am going home, for good. When you look out over a loch to hills there is no better place on gods earth.

Don't want to be pedantic Sean but Dougie himself has said that he wrote this song on a beach in France while feeling homesick during a tour with the Tannahill Weavers in the mid-70's |
