The kiwi is a flightless bird native to new zealand. It is also a nickname applied to new zealanders.

I read somewhere that Hayley was a kiwi. What is a kiwi?

I think it has something to do with someone selling those things, and other things mentioned in the song.

It is called "traditional" - which means it is so old that no one remembers who wrote it. In fact it stems from the bardic tradition, where singers would go from town to town and sing for their meals and money - which means that it may not have been "written" at all.

So how old is this song?
RiggaDig (September 5, 2008 at 8:30 pm)
The song was originally written by simon and garfunkel and on an album called parsely, sage, rosemary and thyme. I believe they have some link to marriage which this song is about. |
