Actually the tune was written for this movie, "Paris Blues". This is the original version. It was recorded & filmed in December, 1960. The Duke/Basie album was recorded in July, 1961.

Another reason it can't be django is that the guitarists hand is normal. Django was in a horrible fire and his third and forth fingers partially paralyzed giving him a very distinct left hand.

Django had been dead nearly eight years when this was filmed(December,1960).

The guitarist's name is Roger Blin. I don't think his name is in the credits for the film.
