Exactly. I don't buy into Louis like some people do purely because he fought so many good to great fighters. That kind of experience makes a world of difference.

The Fallschirmjager were the shit during the war. I can't imagine the standard has fallen too far post-war, either. You just can't let a tradition like that go to Hell, considering you guys paved the way in airborne operations.You have my respect.

Ranks with Douglas-Tyson in shock value? How? Douglas wasn't highly regarded compared to Tyson, whilst Schmeling is one of the all-time greats.

Max Schmeling was never a Nazi, but he did show some support. However, he never accept awards from Hitler, never joined the party, and save the life of two Jewish kids. Was he showing some sort of support to the Nazi's for the sake of his life? I wondor; but he never had a racist bone in his body. Louis and him became friends till they died.

Max Schmeling runs to Joe Louis' aid right after the fight.The press made this about race...neither in my opinion had a racist bone in them.What a class act. Resepect to both of them.
