A quote from Victor Klemperer's diary, written in Dresden, Germany, July 9, 1933. He and his wife were considering ways of escaping the Nazis: "One hears much about Palestine, but we are not attracted to the idea... It's supposed to be about as big as East Prussia with 200,000 Jewish and 800,000 Arab inhabitants." Clearly, there were (and are) Arabs - Christians and Muslims - in the country now called Israel. It's more than likely that some of the Arabs are descendents of Jews who converted.
