The Catholic church IS the real church, otherwise Jesus' promise of not abandoning us until the end of the days was an empty gesture, which could not be.

"I have been misrepresented by those who don't know me" -John 8:41-44 Altough, I think that can be applied to any ministry or church unless we have the concrete answer. I would classify myself to be catholic tough.

Because of that Catholics were the only prue church of Jesus. After Rome, it was influenced from the love of the first christians, along with the warrior mentality of the barbarians who settled in in Roman lands. These barbarians adopted Catholicism and therefore created a mix of cultures into what the church was in the medieval ages, which killed so many people. Still, now us Catholics are the loving, peaceful people we were 1000 years ago, and I am proud to be a Catholic, and a servent of God.

Actually, there is no REAL single church of Christ's teachings. But I do think that Catholics were the first, and therefore the only TRUE followers of Christ. I say this because of a few reasons. For one thing, the first pope, only recongnized by Catholics as the overseer of the Church, was Peter, a direct servent of Jesus himself. Also, there were three main churchs after Jesus, Catholic, Orthodox, and Arian christianity. Orthodox was after Catholicism, and Arian was basicly an echo of Paganism

And what age are you from? The church is more loose these days. Pretty much purgatory/ indulgences are a thing of the past. Last rites (1 of the 7 sacraments)offers a person a sense of security before they pass (it's something like holding a person's hand when they're scared...)I just think your bashing the Catholic religion. Stop living in a box! You feed to your own ignorance.

Not at all. It's mainly music for one's reflection and meditation.

Mr. Nerd, Catholics place the Virgin Mary on the same pedestal as Christ because she is seen as the vessel of bringing Christ into this world...(It's something like celebrating "Mother's Day...") I think your ridiculous by judging the Catholic religion! It's because of the Catholic religion with many of it's investments that much of these items (paintings, sculptures, churches, music...)are still in existence even today! Dude, honestly, take a art history class in college.

Many(All...) Christian counterparts derived from Roman Catholicism. Do your research! Doing what the church did, just goes to show they're human(like the rest of us). Catholic means "universal" in Latin, to which mainly all Christian churches branched out from. Catholics(Christians) have also gone through their own fair share of dark times ie: persecution of Christians by the Roman Emperor Nero...Needless to say, I consider myself Catholic and find no need to say that I'm better than you.

I'm a Christian as well, how is the Catholic church the only church built by Christ? The Catholic church persecuted and murdered countless Christians during the Middle Ages. The Catholic church isn't that evil any more, but they're definately not the best church there's ever been. |
