http://www.myspace.com/acorvet... the 1970s, a number of unusual organisms have been discovered in environments that are hostile to other living things. These organisms, called extremophiles because of their ability to survive at the extremes of typically hospitable conditions, thrive where other life would perish. For example, microbial life has been found deep underground in tiny spaces within rocks, in the frozen environment of Antarctica, in the searing hot waters of deep sea vents and hot springs, and in the harsh environments of dry deserts. Life has also been found in extreme conditions of high radiation, pressure, acidity, alkalinity, or salinity. With the discovery of such organisms, some scientists have broadened their definition of what a habitable environment might be to include a greater range of potential environments for extraterrestrial life.

When did Neil make this video? There have been some interesting discoveries about Titan and Encelados from the Cassini mission in the last 12 months.

look up books or online about terraforming mars. When I was in high school I did a presentation on ways that are being researched to make mars habitable for humans.

if we did hypothetically.... would they think of us as gods?

The puddle would dry up in a matter of hours.

what if they did an experiment where they send a robot to create puddle on mars and put tiny organisms that live in similar conditions here on earth in it and see what happens?

The real funny thing is that if there are other places that can sustain Terran life forms, it might actually contain non-alien life. Rocks from earth are frequently launched into space, and microbes can survive quite well there too.Turning this around, life on Earth might be from somewhere else as well. (As a side note, to contain the human legacy, we might want to try infuse a survivor bacteria with human DNA, so in case something bad happens, life might start a bit faster somewhere else.)

Well, in a way, every cell in your body is a self-replicating molecule. Just a bit more complex. And as for the ingredients of life, all you need to start with would indeed be a simple self-replicating loop, after that anything is possible.

i agree with you kt45...johnny , u need to study about our solar system..lol..seems like u dont know nothing.. there might be life in jupiter's moons and mars..

Self replicating moleclues would be amazing. They might give a few more hits on how life started here on Earth.

I would be thrilled to the point of tears if plant like life was discovered or even microbes or, lower still, self replicating molecules.
