Eh the yardbirds werent as much of a big deal as cream. Cream changed music, thats why they were a super group, yardbirds, while amazing, didnt set new standards for music, and while they had two of the greatest guitarists, they were so young at that point and not as talented as they would once become, yardbirds just remind me of the beatles for some odd reason...but still, not a super group.

Robert Johnson's version was actually recorded in the late 1920's , not the '40's on a reel to reel tape recorder in a hotel room. That explains the poor sound quality on the original version of the original recording. For his time Johnson was an amazing blues guitarist. He could play rhythm on the bass strings and lead on the treble strings at the same time, which is terribly difficult as any great guitar player can tell you!

well to be fair that is of much more meaning that Blues standards covers with epic solo's

well, i suppose that was a supergroup too(now that i realize it, omg), but Cream was the the first band to earn the title, as the phrase was coined back when THEY were at their prime.
