Mr. Durning is one of my heros. i only wish i knew how to reach out to him and send him a letter telling him. maybe there's a slight chance he may read these comments and see how i and so many others appreciate and love him. i think his life experiences have helped to make him the man and artist he is, and he is a remarkable one of those those catagories. I'm proud to call you an American Mr. DurningThank you and God bless you

My father and uncle walked into the concentration camp with Charles Durning, and I caught a glimpse of my late father in the video. I can't say thank you enough for this Memorial Day Special. I wish my Dad could have seen it. He came home with 2 bronze stars and a Purple Heart, and I never knew until he was gone the price he paid for my freedom.

I watched your Memorial 2008 service on PBS this p.m., I think it is great that this service remembered Our Nation was founded as one Nation Under God. Thank-you for remembering our maker time and time again on your 2008 Memorial Service. Thank-You

Agree with you completely, but since our nation was founded One Nation under God, don't you think we should address our maker with a capital G when using his Holy Name, Thank-You

I know it is very hard for Mr. Durning to talk about his experiences during WWII, but thank god we have true American heroes like him that survived to explain history to us. Kids growing up now a days don't know the sacrifices others have made for them to have their freedom in this great country we call the Unites States. If I could I would stand up and salute this great hero, actor, and piece of Americana.
